Hi, I’m Annie — a graphic designer from Perth, Western Australia, with a lifelong passion for history and family stories.
I’ve always been fascinated by how people lived in times past — how things have changed, often for the better, sometimes for the worse. I grew up surrounded by genealogy, coming from a family who has always placed enormous value on knowing where we came from.
But I’m not a genealogist — I’m a family tree designer. I have a Bachelor of Communications specialising in Digital Design, and I work as a digital designer alongside running Acorn. What I noticed was that for all the incredible research genealogists and family history enthusiasts do, there were very few beautiful ways to actually display it. Family history deserves better than a spreadsheet or a folder on a hard drive.
During the pandemic I designed our own family tree — you can see it below — and the response from family and friends was overwhelming. That’s how Acorn Family Tree Designs began.
Today I work with families across Australia, turning their research — however complete or incomplete — into beautiful, printed artwork they can hang on their wall and pass down for generations.
